Australia's Coral Coast stretches along the north-western coastline of Western Australia. 3 hours from Perth, at the southern tip of the region are the Pinnacles, a unique rock formation. At the northern end, a 15 hour drive from Perth, is the town of Exmouth, the gateway to the world renowned Ningaloo Reef.

WA’s premier wildflower region includes the spectacular Pinnacles, magnificent gorges and cliff formations along the coastline and the Shark Bay World heritage area.

In the crystal clear waters of Ningaloo Marine Park you can view, coral reefs, dugongs, manta rays, turtles and humpback whales in the vast seagrass meadows.

Interact with the wild dolphins at Monkey Mia, swim with the largest fish in the world, the whale shark, and explore the coral gardens as close as 50 metres from the shoreline.

What to see and do at the Coral Coast:

  • Swim with the whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef. Go for a boat ride out to the Reef and see the magnificent marine life under your feet.
  • Feed the wild dolphins at Monkey Mia. The dolphins are so used to humans they will bring their young ones into the beach to meet you.
  • Snorkel in the calm blue waters around the coast. Coral Bay is on the southern end of Ningaloo Reef, with coral just metres from the shore line.
  • Delight in the beauty and serenity of the oldest lands in the world in the heart of the picturesque lands of the Murchison River.
  • Stay at one of the National listed Heritage Farmstay Homes, and help with the harvest or round up the sheep and cattle, or camp in quality self contained accommodation close to the river.
  • Kalbarri, the place the windsurfers love, great beaches and fresh breezes in the afternoons. The town site is nestled at the rivers mouth and offers protected swimming beaches.
  • Fishing charters are extremely popular, both for the serious angler or the novice.
  • The Abrolhos Islands - visit the scene of the infamous Batavia mutiny, where the Dutch ship was wrecked on Morning Reef. You can dive on the wreckage and view the outline of the hull, fully equipped with cannons and anchors, providing stark reminders of the Batavia’s gruesome tale.
  • Take a stroll along Jurien Bay Jetty. A string of islands and reefs surround Jurien Bay, creating calm swimming for all the family, and is also popular for windsurfing, boating, surfing and diving.
  • Geraldton is a thriving coastal city where you can enjoy city attractions in a holiday atmosphere, whilst there visit the HMAS Sydney Memorial, and the St Francis Xavier Cathedral.
  • Dirk Hartog Island, was the first piece of Australia visited by Europeans. Capt. Dirk Hartog arrived on Oct. 25th 1616 on the ship the ‘Eendracht.’
  • Be amazed at the history on the Houtman Abrolhos Islands
  • Go four wheel driving at Cape Range National Park

This coastline region commences at Cervantes, where you’ll find the unique rock formations of the Pinnacles and stretches as far north as Exmouth, home of the internationally renowned Ningaloo Reef, this amazing area is also great for diving and fishing all year round with a variety of spectacular reefs and marine life, white sandy beaches and warm turquoise waters. Inland is just as exciting, as carpets of wildflowers burst into colour during the wildflower season.

The region offers amazing experiences and interactions with a variety of marine life, including meeting the dolphins of Monkey Mia, sea lions, manta rays, dugongs and humpback whales. Australia’s Coral Coast is one of the few places in the world where you can swim with the world’s largest fish – the whale shark.
